Maps User Guide
How to searchDepending on your location, Google Maps allows you search for a variety of different kinds of places. Click on one of them in the list below to learn more. Businesses (example: Pizza in Sydney)To search for businesses, do one of the following:
Search results appear in the left panel of the page and as icons on the map itself. You can send search results to your car or in an email message. Learn more. Search examples: If you would like submit a business listing addition or correction for Google Maps, see these help center topics or just use this form Addresses (example: 1 Market Street, San Francisco, CA) To search for an address, enter the address and click Search Maps. Search results appear in the left panel of the page and as markers on the map itself. Where possible, try using the following formats for addresses: You can display a label on a location by using parentheses in your search terms. Example: San Francisco, CA (City by the Bay) Roads and intersections (example: 10th Avenue and W 22nd Street, New York, NY) To search for an address, enter the street or intersection and click Search Maps. Search results appear in the left panel of the page and as markers on the map itself. For roads, enter the road and city or town. For intersections, enter the same, but separate road names with "and" or "&" . For example: Places - Cities, towns, states, provinces, states and continents (example: Paris, France) To search for cities, towns, airports, states, provinces, states or continents, enter the place name and click Search Maps. You can also use search options. Search results appear in the left panel of the page and as markers on the map itself. Enter the just place name or the place name and the region where it resides. For example: Coordinates (example: +38° 34' 24.00", -109° 32' 57.00") Geographic features (example: Half Dome) To search for parks, mountains, lakes, etc., enter the name of the feature and and click Search Maps. Search results appear in the left panel of the page and as icons on the map itself. For best results, enter the feature name and the region where it resides. For example: Real estate listings (example) New! User created content (example: Tahoe Rim Trail KML) User created content include KML-based content created by anyone using Google Maps, Google Earth or other KML authoring tools. To search for such content, first navigate to the appropriate location. Enter the appropriate search terms and click Search Maps. You can also use search options. Search results appear in the left panel and on the map itself. You'll also see links to complete maps when they are relevant to your query, rather than just individual places. Viewing search resultsOnce search results display, you can view them as text by clicking Text View. Return to the standard view of search results by clicking Web View.
